The Fairytale Bavaria part of the holiday was well organised and enjoyable although the evening meals at the Best Western hotel in Fussen were very disappointing. The transfer to the cruise ship by coach worked well with a nice stop in Prien for lunch. Unfortunately we were unable to board the ship in Passau due to their being insufficient water in the Danube so we had to move on to Straubing. Fortunately our tour manager was able to persuade our coach driver to take us in to the town for an hour otherwise we would have been left to stand by the river in the middle of nowhere for up to 3 hours before the ship arrived. The river cruise was not as good as other cruises we have been on, The Amadeus Imperial is a lovely ship, the cabins are well laid out, the food was exceptional and the evening entertainment first class. It was the itinerary that didn't feel right, some of the towns we visited were very interesting and could have done with more time while others were less so. I believe there were more than 50 locks on the cruise which meant that the ship was constantly stopping and starting often during the night, and the environment that we were cruising through, the low bridges and the locks meant that we were unable to use the sun deck for the majority of the cruise. Overall a good holiday worthy of 4 stars.

All was fantastic. Ship, accommodation, all meals, staff and excursions/tour guides and manager were absolutely first class. Evening meals at Great Western+ hotel were sub- standard. Could not sit on deck due to passing through too many locks and low bridges. Would have like to spend more time at the places we visited.
